Description

Mark Aubert’s Sonoma Coast vineyard-designate Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs have risen in popularity at a dizzying speed. Aubert’s career in winemaking began in 1989 at Peter Michael under the tutelage of Helen Turley, which led to his time at Colgin, Sloan, Futo and then Bryant Family, before founding Aubert Wines with his wife Teresa in 1999. His wines express the essence of singular terroirs with an effortless grace. Mark crafts the wines of Aubert to speak to a variety of wine lovers with one thing in common – selective palates that expect nothing but the best.

This vineyard continues to show more and more personality as it ages. The 2015 Larry Hyde and Sons Chardonnay aromatically fills the room with limeade, talc, and citrus blossom. The wine is like a sorbet, waking and refreshing the palate. There is a sneaky concentration that builds with flavors of dried pineapple and spun sugar. Please note the greenish hue on the edge of the glass, which is indicative of the health of the wine. Layered with extract and acid, the 2015 Larry Hyde & Sons has what it takes to age for the next 10 to 15 years. The wine is slightly hazy showing their commitment to minimal intervention winemaking.

Critical Acclaim

RP97
Robert Parker s Wine Advocate
Rating 95-97. His 2015 Chardonnay Larry Hyde& Sons, like many of the 2015s and a consistent characteristic of most of Aubert’s wines, comes from mostly old Wente clones as well, and has a bright gold greenish hue to its color as well as a big, sweet kiss of caramelized citrus, apple blossom, white peach and a touch of pineapple. It is a beautiful wine, with a full-bodied mouthfeel and a long, zesty finish. Anticipated maturity: now-2026.
WS93
Wine Spectator
Beautifully crafted, sleek, rich and deftly proportioned, this offer a racy core, tilting toward spicy green notes and flavors of honeydew and pear. Finishes with a kiss of spicy, toasty oak that captures the essence of the wine.
